Collective Sense of Place Seattle

On June 26th, 2010 I set up an 8’ x 8’ fabric map of Seattle at Artopia, Georgetown’s annual art and music festival. I invited passers-by, young and old to share their stories about significant places located throughout the city. Participants wrote personal stories and drew pictures of places on scraps of fabric, which they stitched onto the map using embroidery thread. At the end of the festival over 100 people had added to the map.
